Small steps in a big World

During the winter of 2000, the students of a high school in Keratsini – an industrial city near Athens full of social and economical problems -decided to stage a play and videotape the whole process. Thirty students aged 15 worked for this project creating a play based on their own experiences and lives.

Spyros, the unyielding and wild one, claims he’s not afraid of death. Stella, the romantic dreamer, seeks tenderness even in strangers. Maria, misunderstood by her classmates, asks for understanding and freedom. Christos, with a biting sense of humor, wants to be a pilot for the glory of his homeland. Loucas loves football, women and adventure; he’s all for himself. And finally, Vasia, who tries to boss the others around, is just a girl with a big and tender heart.

The direct and realistic shooting, the spontaneity of these young people speaking in front of the camera in their own language, delineate the adolescents of today, seeking for love, finding a way out through friendship and keeping on dreaming.
