In the heart of modern Athens, next to the gridlocked traffic and roar of the city centre there is also another world: the “national garden” with its lush vegetation, tall trees and winding paths, resembles a hidden paradise beyond time and place.
That is where the film’s protagonists seek refuge. People of every age and origin, habitués, workers, occasional visitors, all seek relief from the major and minor dramas of their everyday lives in this oasis. There they allow their deepest desires to express themselves, reveal their dreams and illusions and are confounded by the passage of time and the surprises that life holds in store for them.
